The Best Turtle Viewing on Maui

If turtles (or surfing) are your thing, the best place to visit is Ho’okipa Beach on the North Shore of Maui, a bit past the main strip in Paia. On the final day of our visit, Maui sent us off with the delightful experience of seeing over 200 Green Sea Turtles (Honu) basking on the sandy beach at Ho’okipa.

The Botanical Building in Balboa Park was built in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition. It is open from 10am – 4pm daily, closed on Thursdays and holidays. As an additional bonus, besides being surrounded by beauty, it won’t cost you a dime. Entrance into the Botanical Building is always free.

If you are looking for a delightful, serene location to spend a few hours while visiting San Diego head over to the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. The 7 acre garden is filled with meandering walking paths, ponds, waterfalls, and beautiful landscaping.
