We opted to stay in Sealodge Condos in Princeville during our stay on the North Shore of Kauai.
The condo had a living room, small kitchen, dining area, bedroom, loft with additional bed, two bathrooms, lanai, and a washing machine and dryer.
The bedroom faced the ocean, so you could hear the waves at night, which I love. I did learn that the sound of waves crashing into the shore are distinctly different from them crashing into a cliffside. The former is soothing and relaxing, the latter resembled thunder. Staying here, you experience the latter.
The furniture was not impressive. This unit had no air conditioning. While the temperature wasn’t hot enough to be uncomfortable, the air was so humid that everything in the condo felt damp. The floor also hadn’t been washed recently, which became apparent after I had walked around the unit barefoot after showering and ended up with black feet.
My favorite part of the condo was the lanai, which did have a lovely, unobstructed view of the ocean.
The stargazing was pretty good here. The only light was from other condos, so if you happen to wake up in the middle of the night, you will be treated to a nice view of the cosmos.
You will also be graced with some spectacular sunrises.
Although, we would consider staying at another condo here, we would not stay in this one again. Air conditioning would be an absolute must for us. We were visiting at the start of the rainy season, so maybe a summer visit would be okay. I’d be skeptical, though. If it’s hot, you need the windows open, and if it rains, you have to close them. Being on the North Shore, it rains, a lot, even in the ‘dry season’.
However, the condominiums are located in a great spot, close to great beaches, lots of restaurants and shops. I won’t mention what unit we stayed in, as it’s possible that ownership has changed, and changes may have been made. There are quite a few units to choose from. I’d look for a newly renovated one with AC.
As always, wishing you happy travels and fantastic adventures in this thing called life.
