Hanalei Bay Beach Park boasts 2 miles of sandy beachfront. Both the pier and the beach are favorite spots for photographers.
Although, it is the most popular beach on the North Shore, we did not have to contend with crowds. However, we did have to contend with rain.
While the ocean is stunning to look at, the verdant mountains with numerous waterfalls give the ocean a run for its money.
We tried to visit the beach twice, but we were rained out both times.
While my husband tried to get in some snorkeling, I tried to quickly get some pictures of the rain, which was headed right for us, before I hid my camera. As my husband was underwater, he didn’t realize that I was sitting on the beach trying to stay dry under our umbrella. I didn’t mind too much, as there were surfing lessons going on for some kids, and I found their ability to be rather impressive. One young girl seemed to be particularly annoyed that she never wiped out, so she would dramatically through herself into the water when she neared the shoreline.
After a while, we decided to drive until we were out of the rain and ended up at Wainiha Bay Park. Although the water was too rough to swim, we marveled at the colors of the water. We stayed for quite some time before heading back to our condo.
