The first half of our trip we stayed in a condo at Kuhio Shores in Koloa. We picked it for the view and location.
We started every morning having tea and coffee on the lanai while watching the sun rise, listening to the ocean and listening to the roosters crowing.
Every night we would go out and look at the stars. The picture is not even close to being as impressive as the sky was. If you multiply each star by ten or twenty, that was how many stars we could see. Plus, lots of shooting stars!
We love falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. Unfortunately, the bedroom was not located close enough for us to hear the ocean at night.
Every unit has an ocean view. We always prefer to be on at least the second floor, so we have a private lanai and not a room that opens up to the hotel grounds. For our stay here, we were on the top floor.
These condominiums are not located directly on a swimmable beach. We actually prefer this, as it is quieter and more private. It is only a three minute walk to Lawai beach and a five minute drive to Poipu Beach.
You can venture out on the rocks at low tide and see what you can find in the tide pools.
The unit we stayed in had some pluses and minuses. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything that we needed.
The lanai was large and had a perfect view of the sunrise. These two chairs were so tall that I could not climb up on them (although my husband enjoyed watching my several attempts to do so). So, I always took the lounger.
As you can see from the photo, the entire back wall of the condo is glass. Two large sliding glass windows and the patio door. The screen door was ripped and did not glide very well in the track. Also, the lock was broken on the patio door, there was a bar to use in the track as a lock. With everything open, there was always a lovely breeze. Also, the glass panes, instead of bars, made a huge difference when enjoying an unobstructed view from the lounger. From now on, I will always be looking for lanais with glass panes and no bars! This condo had two air conditioning units. One for the bedroom and one for the living area/kitchen.
Pluses
- Amazing View
- Great Location
- Air conditioning
- Large Lanai/Glass Panes
- Great water pressure in shower
- Quiet
- Provided snorkel gear and beach chairs
- Living Room furniture almost new
- Clean
Minuses
- Not enough towels and only one towel bar to hang them on
- No vent in the bathroom, so it seemed a bit damp and musty at times
- Shower curtain stained
- Broken dresser
- Not enough blankets
- Kitchen and Bathroom a bit dated
Although I would be content with staying at this condominium again, I would try a different unit. Our first choice unit was already booked, it had been renovated and updated. If you are interested in staying here you can book directly through their website or find them on vrbo or airbnb.
Next up, will be our day spent at Poipu Beach. As always, wishing you happy travels and fantastic adventures in this thing called life.
